It was a bit challenging to walk the dog due to the gate barring guests from the rest of Timberline and the busy main road. Thankfully, there are many trail options nearby. Another thing that would improve the experience would be keyless entry vs needing to stop by the office to pick up and drop off keys.

  We have been coming to Canaan Valley for 15+ years and have rented MANY homes all over the valley from Davis to Old Timberline to Winterset and everything in between. This is by far and away the cleanest home we’ve ever stayed in! It is clutter free, dust free, wonderfully comfy beds, great deck and a well supplied kitchen. As a mom of 3 kids (ages 10, 8, and 3), I can’t thank the owners enough. Their home truly made our stay a delight. Also, it’s so convenient to get to Timberline for skiing and the reopened Owl Market for afternoon coffees. This home is on our short list and can’t wait to come back again.

Hot water runs out quickly if everyone was taking showers, but also replenished in a short time-period. A/C was not working well, but it wasn't too hot outside, so it worked out. Hot tub was awesome! Would recommend the home if you are staying in the area.

  Mountain Getaway was a beautiful vacation home. It was fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed for a longer stay. Beautifully decorated and freshly painted outside- the pictures do not do this home justice. Even though there are other houses near, you still feel secluded in the large backyard with a fire pit that isn’t pictured. If you’re traveling with a large group Bear Retreat is very close by, with only one home in between that made it perfect for us to still spend time together. We loved that our dogs were also welcome to come enjoy our trip as well. We will certainly be back!

  Overall i would say it was a great stay. There was a good amount of everything provided, ie utensils, dishes, pots/pans, paper towels, regular towels, soap etc. For the most part everything except the carpets/vents and blinds were clean. We came in and immediately had to vacuum/clean the vents and the blinds of dust and dog hair because of allergy issues. The downstairs carpets had a lot of stains and spots that felt slightly crusty. Upstairs carpets were clean. Another thing to note is that there was a leak in the skylights after the heavy rain our first night there. All 3 of them were dripping non stop into the living room. By the next morning everything was fine and had dried. Id still consider staying here again, just not during days of heavy rain unless the roof/skylights are fixed.

However, there was a dog that lived maybe behind the property that seemed to have free reign and came up on our deck while we were outside. (We brought our dog) and I didn’t feel like the pictures represented how close you are to your neighbors. I was thinking there would be more privacy than there actually was. With that said I would recommend! The house was very clean, updated and well stocked with everything you would need while vacationing away from home.

  Our family had a wonderful time at Mountain Getaway. We stayed for 10 days and it was very comfortable and relaxing. The house was modern and had all the features that one need. The kitchen has all the required dishes and utensils. It has three bedrooms with two bedrooms upstairs had two queen beds each. Overall a very pleasant stay and now it is one of our favorite places to stay in Canaan Valley.
  
  Our only suggestion is that, the checkout time of 10 am is too early. It is difficult to get the entire family ready, all sheets removed, towels washed and dishwasher running, all by 10 am. We had a long relaxing vacation, but a very rushed and stressful checkout.

  This house very nice. Check in was a breeze. Home was spotless. Kitchen is large, updated and extremely well stocked.The home has ac which was needed. It is also is pet friendly however the home / barn behind the house has 2 dogs that run free and we're in the yard daily. The home is surrounded by large trees and feels private even though there are close neighbors.
  We were on a motorcycle trip and the garage was great. The roads all around Timberline area were paved.
  We visited Black water falls. Several restaurants in the area are closed early in the week, in Davis & Thomas
  I would rent this home again.

  This house was spotless inside. I loved the clean, simple decor without extras sitting around. The kitchen was fully furnished with everything we needed and more. (maybe not a muffin pan & you will need coffee filters for the drip pot.) Plenty of table space for eating and game playing. The beds and pillows were really comfortable but the bathroom windows had no coverings. We made use of the charcoal grill which was stored in the garage and the hot tub on the private back deck.
  There were 2 large picnic tables on the deck which were not shown in the pictures and plenty of adirondack chairs. There was a fire ring in the back yard also and wood for the fire. The location is flat and good for walks and biking. It's close to a small store, Subway and Big John's restaurant. Best of Canaan Realty have always been super nice to deal with. The only downside we had was the air conditioner was not cooling. We were the first renters this spring that needed it and with the skylights in the living room it was very hot and uncomfortable in the day. We called to report it and they called us back and said the owners had put in a call for someone to come see about it but they never did. Best of Canaan did give us a little off the rental fee for our inconvenience. It did effect our visit but I'm sure it will be taken care of. It would be a good idea for A/C and heat to be checked before the hot and cold seasons. I would definitely recommend Mountain Getaway to my friends as it is very clean, comfortable and in a great location. (near ski slope in the winter also)

  This house was perfect and so comfortable! It made the fact that it was raining and bad weather not such a disappointment. All the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped. We will definitely rent here again.
