Shoot a game of pool, try your luck at foosball, enjoy a game of cards or watch the game of the day in the incredibly fun and seriously spacious family room. There lots more to enjoy.   We were a group of people who became friends while we were in graduate school at Marshall University back in the 1970s. We started getting together again about 5 years ago. We try to go to different places for our spring trip each year. I must say that Bluebird Day was one of the best places we have stayed in. It was very spacious and had bedrooms on the main floor which was really nice for those that don’t traverse stairs very well. The kitchen was very well equipped. The fire pit was great since the evenings were still a little cool and we wanted to sit outside. We enjoyed playing pool. There were several other games in the game room as well. I would highly recommend this home for rental.

  This is a huge house perfect for groups with plenty of space for R&R and outdoor enjoyment. The hot tub/fire pit set up out back is fantastic, as is the games room. The location is great for exploring/hiking/the ski resorts. The stay would have been 5 star all around if not for the mice running around each evening we were there. The management company sent someone to set traps, but didn't seem overly concerned. There were also mouse droppings in some of the kitchen drawers. I get that these things happen in the country, but more effort could have been made to reduce pests. We noticed a lot of dust in the property on mantels and fans, so perhaps additional attention could be paid to cleanliness.

  Stayed here last year and this year. Loved the new improvements ...tvs everywhere except the greatroom...yay, we actually talked. But for those that do like tv, there’s one in every bedroom, loft and gameroom. Pool table was re-covered, which we love to play. New double ovens were wonderful to bake cookies. Kitchen is well stocked ...many newer saucepans and skillets and plenty of dishes. This house was clean. Grass was cut around the house which was nice for a nature scavenger hunt. Deer came right through the yard everyday. Ceiling fans in every bedroom and the great room. Hot tub was nice. Plenty of towels. Just a wonderful house that made our vacation that much more enjoyable. (Recommend Tip Top coffee shop in Thomas and Douglas waterfalls and Elakala Water falls.)

  This is a great house for a large group. It's true that the sofas, etc., need replaced, but we had great weather and were outside most of the time. The recessed lighting throughout the living areas badly need dimmer switches. The firepit and hottub were above average for rentals in this area, as was the supply of pots, pans, etc. For whatever reason, this house does not have any second-floor windows on the front side, so it is hard to get cross-ventilaiton on the second floor. The good news is that it got down into the 50s most nights even in mid-July and we stayed comfortable ven without AC. Would stay again.

  The house was definitely spacious with big bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms 5/5 and had a great location. However things need some work. No functioning ice maker. Several missing shelves in the small side by side refrigerator. No TV in main living room. TVs in bedrooms weren’t set up or the remotes didn’t work. Living room furniture appears to be nice but definitely not and believe it may be broken. Hot water tank definitely does not supply only 2 hot showers for a house with 10 people! Downstairs bathroom toilet did not function the tank would not fill up to flush. Dishwasher did not clean the dishes and most of the dishes had to be washed before using. We went out and bought paper plates. Only one garbage bag, please supply the essentials. Plenty of towels, washer and dryer was undersized for the house take several loads for the towels which we were expected to wash. No dryer sheets. We still had a great time as we love the area. We loved that it had a working fireplace and firewood on the porch.

There were 5 of us, and there was more than ample space for us to have personal space and communal time. We worked remotely a few days and the WiFi supported about two simultaneous video calls and web browsing depending on where you sit. The major hikes were about a 30min drive. The hot tub was clean, spacious, and worked great. As others have mentioned the downstairs couches are very worn out so we didn’t spend much time there. I’d suggest bringing your own soap and tp. There were only 2 or 3 dishwasher pods, so if you’ll be there more than a weekend, plan accordingly.

  This has been a hard year for my family and COVID was the least of it.We finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel and decided to get away for some much needed & earned R & R. This home was everything we needed and so much more!!!My 2 year old grandson (who I hadn't seen in 6 months) loved the long hallway and having the gate on the deck allowed him to be out there without being constantly told 'no' when he got near the stairs.The furniture does need some upgrading in the living room and some of the beds could use new mattresses. But those are the only negatives. The home is HUGE and allowed us all to have our own spaces.

  The house, in general, is lovely, was very clean, and well equipped. We enjoyed the lovely spa, secluded surroundings, the beautiful view, and the daily visit by a family of deer. Plenty of room for 3 families to relax and have 'alone time.'
  On the down side, we had alot of trouble with the ovens because the doors don't close, so cooking was a challenge. A couple of the mattresses badly need to be replaced, and a few more blankets would be nice. Also, some brighter light bulbs would be welcome. Despite the problems, we'd definitely come again, plan stovetop meals, and bring some extra blankets.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Majesty. Upon arrival we were pleased to find the home pleasingly secluded, clean and well maintained. We were especially pleased with its open concept on the main floor, offering plenty of seating both in the eating area and in the living area. The standout feature of this home is the layout of five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and three casual seating areas. We were here with our grown children and their families. There was ample privacy for each family. The kitchen was very spacious and was well equipped. There was plenty of deck furniture, although the umbrella was missing. We appreciated the large ledge around the firepit that kept our little ones away from the fire. We give a very high rating to the management company, Best of Canaan. They were responsive and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. There were two disappointing things that we feel should be noted for other guests. From the pictures, one of the selling points of this property was a yard where we anticipated our little ones could play. There was not a yard but rather a grassy area that was 1 1⁄2 feet high, more like a field. Also the pictures, from the owner, showed a grill on the deck and listed a BBQ grill as an amenity. We came with a week’s supply of meat to grill. NO GRILL! When we contacted the management company they said the owner no longer was providing a grill due to a fire that had happened. His solution was a charcoal grill on a stand, like seen at a park. It was located off near the woods by a picnic table but there was all that high grass all over that area. It is important for owners to update their websites and provide accurate information. Not having a grill would have been a deal breaker for us when we were looking for a property to rent. It has been an essential item in all the other Timberline properties we have booked over the last 30 years.

  A group of friends and us have stayed at Mountain Majesty for the past seven years. Obviously seven years ago it was in much better condition than it is beautiful and roomy as the home is, there definitely needs some upgrades in the living furniture. All of the beds seem to be nice and comfy. However, there needs to be some newer sheets and comforters. There are plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans. This past trip in June, we would have welcomed a gas grill instead of the charcoal one. Overall it is a beautiful place to stay and the view is outstanding.

  The outdoor space and common areas provide a fun and comfortable area for a large family or group. We enjoyed the hot tub, firepit, and downstairs family room with pool table and foosball. We are rating it 3 stars and not 4 or 5 due to the lack of a gas grill and deferred maintenance and updates. The picnic area style charcoal grill is not adequate for a large group and does not have a lid, which makes it difficult to retain the heat and cook much beyond the basics. The firepit stones are crumbling, still functional but not for long. Neither of the double ovens in the kitchen are full sized and limited some cooking options. I would be hesistant to rent Mountain Majesty in July or August since it does not have AC, we were comfortable because the May nights were cool enough. It is a great property that we enjoyed, just needs some investment in maintenance and updates to get to 5 stars.

  Our family took a last minute Memorial Day trip “anywhere that is different from home” as the Covid-19 restrictions were taking its toll on all of us. This house fit the bill! Lots of space for adults and toddlers, never felt crowded. We enjoyed the fire pit each night. The tiny creek on the property was a hit with the little ones until it “disappeared “ the one day. Blackwater falls and park was beautiful. Even found a place for toddlers to take their first pony ride. We will be back!!

  The house is perfectly located in the Old Timberline community. It is extremely spacious and well maintained. We were 2 family staying and it was more than enough room. For dinner, 2 other families were joining us bringing the total party to 18 people and the house is big enough that we did not feel like being one on top of another. So really great house. The only suggestion I would make is to furnish more amenities such as towels.

  This was our first experience with Best of Canaan, and they are terrific. It was the easiest and quickest check-in process we ever had, and everyone is friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful and well-kept with plenty of room for everyone. There are always deer at the house and sometimes wild turkey. Everything was clean, and the appliances worked well. We would recommend, however, updating some of the appliances and putting brighter lights in the bathrooms. Overall, though, we love the house!
