  The house was nice, set away from the road and with lots of outdoor space for our dog to run around. There is an adorable loop trail in the back of the property and a couple of Adirondack chairs where one can sit quietly and drink their coffee.
  
  The Best of Canaan team was very responsive and was able to address some of the questions/ issues we had within a day (helping us figure out how to start the fireplace). The internet speed was pretty slow (5 Mbps rather than 50 Mbps) and restarting the modem/ router did not help. All in all it was a positive experience.

The home has cable internet service and a Netgear multi-band router that was installed last year to support Smart TV's, music and video streaming, as well as video conferencing. Unfortunately, the problem likely stemmed from the internet service provider and the WIFI system has been verified to be working fine since your stay. **New Note: "Update: Shentel, the internet service provider, has recently upgraded their internet service to 50 Mbps."

  Our family stayed here recently for several days for a mini-reunion. For us, the location was perfect. It was so quiet and peaceful with plenty of outdoor space to walk, explore, and enjoy. We also appreciated that the owner allows dogs there,too. The floor plan was one big reason for us to book this property ....4 bedrooms each with its own bathroom...no one had to share!!
  The cabin was beautifully decorated; we felt very cozy and relaxed.
  While the kitchen was well equipped and there was a new dishwasher, we have to say that the lighting is, unfortunately, terrible!!. We did a lot of cooking and had to bring in a floor lamp and desk lamps to be able to see properly. It would also be nice if the many wall switches in the kitchen and great room were labeled as to what they control. There were no directions for the great room ceiling fan but we finally figured it out. Overall though, this is a very nice place and I am sure many visitors would enjoy it.

Under-counter motion-activated LED strip lighting was installed. The output of the overhead Tech Lighting system was significantly increased through installation of LED's in multiple light fixtures in lieu of halogen bulbs and the light in the range hood above the stovetop was replaced.   The house was great. 4 bedrooms & 4 baths. I only saw 1 small spider in the house, and I am always on the lookout for them. The only real issue I had was there is not good lighting in the kitchen. I had to get a floor lamp from one of the bedrooms and put it on the kitchen counter. They attempted to add a couple small ones for the countertop but they did not shine properly how you would need them. They could use a larger broom as the decks are huge and need swept off from the trees. The grill is very easy to use as it is hooked up to a gas line. No need to worry about the propane tank. We did buy WD-40 to fix the squeaky front door and tape to fix the screen door as the weather was 75 degrees and we could open and air out the house. Which is no problem for us as we always leave our rental homes in better condition than we find them. It was a really nice home, all the bathrooms were updated. we would stay there again.

  The house was beautiful and well appointed. However, we had to call the management company several times during our stay. They were responsive and sent out a wonderfully nice maintenance man twice. Evidently, the dishwasher had been not working for a period of time, it was worked on, but didn't work for us at all, despite our lovely maintenance man coming out twice. No one wants to do dishes on vacation, so that was disappointing. The gas fireplace was lovely until the last 24 hours of our stay when it stopped working all together. The hot tub was warm and clean, but has lots of jets not working as it has some age on it. The stove also needs calibration as it took everything longer to cook, and we cooked every meal in the home. The house was very well appointed and had lots of little extras to make cooking easy.
  We enjoyed the the whole house nonetheless. We hiked on the trails, went skiing, skating, played games and our dogs enjoyed the back yard. The best part was being together and with a few improvements it really could be a 5 star home.

  Second winter renting this adorable house nestled in the woods. Having four full bathrooms is a definite plus as well as the full size washer and dryer. The showers are nice and there was always plenty of hot water. The kitchen has adequate supplies for meal making. The living room furniture is comfortable and the gas grill was located conveniently on the back deck. All four bedrooms have their own access to outside. Comfortably accommodated our party of eight again this trip.
  
  The only negative about the house was the cleanliness upon arrival. The floors had not been swept or vacuumed. We vacuumed and swept a large amount of dirt throughout the main living area including underneath the couch and both chairs and knocked down large cobwebs in the front windows. We also found empty candy wrappers, empty candy cartons, empty solo cups and bandaids under one of the beds as well as a broken wicker chair in the same bedroom. It was apparent that the house hadn’t be cleaned since the last renters even though there is a cleaning fee as part of the rental agreement. We reported that the dishwasher was not operable on arrival and it still had not been fixed or looked at after staying for five days.

  My husband and I came for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin was beautiful. The location was beautiful, the back yard was stunning and peaceful. The cabin was one of the best stocked we’ve been to, and we appreciated that! We did have an issue with the gas fireplace, within hours of arriving we called the rental office to inform this, they said someone would come out the next day to take a look. Unfortunately no one ever came, and we didn’t take the time to call back, we were busy enjoying our stay. So that was a bummer. I was also glad no children were with us because the loft steps were very very steep, not complaining about it just possibly alerting others with small children. Had our three boys been with us it would have definitely been off limits. Overall a fantastic stay, would definitely recommend.

  The property was amazing. We chose it primarily because of the privacy and open feel and we were not disappointed. It was very private. There was only one property that we could see in a distance but I don't think anyone happened to be there during our stay anyways. So it was basically us surrounded by acres of beautiful woods. It was a close walk to get on the hiking trails nearby which was wonderful too.
  
  The house was very open and we loved the layout and that every room had a bathroom too. It was clean and you could tell that it was recently updated.
  
  The back deck area was our favorite to hang out and relax while watching the wild life. You will not be disappointed staying here if you like privacy and peace.

  My family of 5 wanted to take a winter vacation and to hopefully see snow. We came across this home and thought it looked nice so we decided to book it. When we arrived we were blown away. The house was fantastic and it looked just as the pictures shown. We loved that it came fully stocked with everything you need from the kitchen to the bathrooms and the laundry room. The house was very clean and big enough to accommodate everyone comfortably. We ended up getting a snow storm the night we arrived and it snowed for three days straight and the snow did not disappoint. The house came with some sleds for our kids to use and those kept them busy for the whole week we were there! We loved how secluded the house is, very private. We loved the gas fire place we used it every night. And the hot tub was very nice too. We are already talking about booking this home for next year, we can’t wait to come back.

  Timberline mountain was a short drive away and I learned to ski for the first time.
  House was clean and as advertised.
  Only knock would be the gas fireplace inside smelled of gas when you used it. So, we didn't use it and notified the rental company. Hopefully that is fixed for future renters! It was a bummer to not be able to use the fire place! Everything else was fantastic.

It is thought the smell was normal and caused by dust/reside burning off the new logs.
