Our staff loves this one! One of our most popular rental homes, Base Camp is open for business and sure to delight vacationers young and old. Upstairs or downstairs, beautiful views are provided on every floor. Base Camp is plenty "cushy" with king beds only, lots of TV's, WIFI, and a wet bar. Step outside to enjoy the firepit, gas grill and plenty more views! The well-equipped kitchen is sure to satisfy even the fussiest chef and the game room with air hockey, shuffleboard and a large TV will keep the gang busy while the kitchen magic happens! Base Camp is walking distance to a delightful petting zoo and horseback riding at Mountain Trail Rides! It is a quick drive to Canaan Resort's pristine golf course and outdoor pool for summer fun. In winter you cannot lodge any closer to White Grass or the slopes at Canaan and it is a short, easy drive to Timberline Mountain! Plan early. Base Camp is sure to become your favorite! Well behaved dogs are welcome with an additional fee.

  We had a great stay at the Base Camp. Its location is perfect for skiing at Timberline and Canaan Valley, both are super close by. The house's layout was great for our group. It's decorated beautifully and equipped with all you need. The only thing we noticed is that the bottom floor and top loft area and bedroom were always cold. We didn't call the rental company to check and see where additional thermostats may be.

  Basecamp was perfect for our family and friends vacation. There was plenty of space for the seven of us and three dogs. We enjoyed hanging on the porch, walking down to the National Wildlife Refuge every day, and having a campfire in the evenings. The house is tastefully decorated, well maintained, and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Everyone agrees they would stay here again.

  Our family had an amazing weekend at Base Camp. We were in town for a family reunion and extended our stay to explore Canaan Valley. The view from the home is amazing, directly between two ski resorts. We loved watching movies and playing games downstairs and the beds were so comfortable. We had camp fires and s'mores nightly. All this and our pups could join us, too. We are often limited with choices when we bring our fur babies and this home couldn't have been more perfect. Our family plans to stay here again for future family reunions. Truly a fabulous find!

  The cabin was large, clean, and well laid out. Four bedrooms, all with king sized comfortable beds. Two bedrooms on the main level, one in the loft with a sitting area, and one in the basement. The kitchen was small, but adequate with nice appliances, and well stocked with plates, cups, bowls, etc. The great room with fireplace and long dining table was a wonderful gathering place. The basement had a large game room but we did not use it much as the weather was wonderful and we spent our time outside hiking. The view from the deck of the mountains was spectacular as the color was changing when we were there (October 2021)
  
  The cabin is located in a developed neighborhood but reasonably apart from others. Canaan valley state park is right around the corner as is a horseback riding business for trail riding. Blackwater State Park is a short drive away and the waterfall is spectacular. Lots of restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive, but we prepared most of our meals at the cabin.
  
  The only issue we had was no hot water when we arrived. I tried to call the manager many times but the line was always busy. Finally investigated myself and found the instant HW heater had been unplugged. Plugged it in, saw no leaks, and everything was wonderful in less than 5 minutes. Found out later it had been unplugged while servicing the humidifier in the house and had inadvertently been left that way. No other problems.
  
  This cabin was centrally located for my far flung family to come to for a short vacation. We had 8 people there, and I would definitely consider renting it again in the future.

  Base Camp was a wonderful surprise. We had to make a pivot after an issue and needed to find a getaway for a week. We found Base Camp and drove 10.5 hours to find a great house in a very scenic area.
