  Despite hurricane Helene’s presence, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As always, love the location and mountainside views. More color this year.
  Glad to see new washer and dryer, and some updates (kitchen backsplash, bathroom in cottage partially updated, new bunks, new towels). Would love to see new mattresses in several BR......lower BRs in main house, for example. Occasional chairs in LR are very uncomfortable but .......

  Location ,location,location. The views are endless here ,we love to hike and fish and just paddle around the lake plus so close to 2 state parks you should not be bored. Loved the addition of the basketball hoop ! We also like to take the grandkids bike riding and the house and area are perfect for that. The pots and pans could use some updating and a king size bed upstairs would be a plus. The staff is always very helpful with any need we have.

  Our family of 9 enjoyed our stay at timeless. We loved the view of the mountain. Easy access to Dolly Sods in the community. Abundance of animals, Bald eagles, coyote, owls, deer, fox and much more. Lots of trails to hike and bike in the area. Many great waterfalls to see. The house needs some upkeep. The kitchen had an abundance of ants where the wall was a little rotted behind the sink. The 2 twin mattresses are totally shot, and the bunks were not too good. Some of the window blinds are beat up. Both of the houses have a great layout. We would return for another vacation at Timeless. The house just needs a little TLC.

  My husband and I travel to Canaan Valley to stay in Timberline every October, this year we also talked our friend group of 12 to come down for our annual “Friendsgiving” trip. The house was amazing and fit each couple perfectly. We loved the open concept of the living area as we were all able to be together while we were preparing the meal. The view was spectacular, my husband and I have stayed at the top of the mountain, in many different rentals throughout Old Timberline and I have to say this house is our new favorite. It snowed most of the day our first full day down and seeing the view of the snow covered mountain made our holiday trip so cozy and comforting. We enjoyed our stay very very much.

  We had a great time at Timeless for our Oct 2023 Vacation. The owner has made some updates to some of the furniture and it was nice to be able to sit around the fireplace with family and friends and relax. You cannot get a better view off the deck and there were plenty of deer that came to visit every day. Did plenty of hiking and exploring up at Dolly Sods and over North Fork Mountain and ate at several great places in the area. Sirianni's, Mama Mia's, and Canaan Lodge were wonderful. Property was clean and well-maintained and suited our needs well. The staff at Best of Canaan are truly the BEST! We love to see their smiling faces every time we are there and consider all of you our extended family!

  This is our favorite place to stay when we do Leaf Peepers weekend. A great place for the kids to play and enough beds for everyone. Nice to see upgrades in the kitchen.
  The carriage house needs some TLC. Bunk beds need replaced. Don’t feel save having kids sleep in them. Heater in bathroom didn’t work and toilets needed repaired. Minor things but critical.

  Timeless was an AWESOME choice for our annual guys getaway! The main house has plenty of space to spread out and chill (inside, on the decks, on the covered porch, in the hot tub) plus there's a connected SECOND house with more bedrooms, bathrooms and gathering space. And check out that BIG backyard overlooking the lake and mountains. You simply CAN'T BEAT that view. The house could use a few updates, sure. But for our purposes, the 8 of us loved it and we had space for a few more, too!

  Perfect place for 12. Beautiful views, great location near the lake. Less windy than the cabins we usually stay in up the mountain but still has access to Dolly Sods. With two houses in this rental, we could put all our kids(ages14-20) in one house and the adults could stay in the big house.
  It could have been a little cleaner but it wasn’t problematic for us(just plastic water bottles and trash under my bed and couch from the previous tenants and some dust bunnies)
  Best of Canaan is always very helpful and friendly. We would love to return to this property either to hike again or XC ski.

The property was absolutely beautiful and my family enjoyed every bit of it. The views from the living room were spectacular! You could see the ski slopes of Timberline. The deer wondered around the property. I had been to Canaan multiple times during the summer when I was younger, but never experienced it as an adult. Overall, the BEST vacation ever!

  Timeless was a wonderful property for a multi-generation gathering over Christmas. The kitchen is large enough for several people to be working at the same time, the dining table hosts a large family dinner, the family room is spacious, everyone had their own bathroom, and the kids were able to sleep late in the guest house. We enjoyed great views of bucks sparing and a family of bald eagles (yes - 2 adults and one juvenile) enjoying their Christmas breakfast on the shore of the lake.

Being tucked in just inside the wood line and a awesome Lake right in front of us and Timberline mountain looking at us is priceless . The house was very clean and spacious. We really enjoy having the space inside as well as the nice size yard for kids to play in and a paved driveway where they could ride their bikes . We all Love the trail around the Lake and when completed we just walked the small trail back to our yard , kayak and fishing seem to be our highlights , with watching the sun go down up on timberline . We also liked the fact that when we had an issue and called Best of Canaan main office , they corrected it very quickly

But these negatives are more than offset by up to date kitchen and comfy living room furniture.

  This is our third time staying in Old Timberline and our first at Timeless. The location is fantastic and the we will stay again. The teenagers especially loved having the Carriage House for themselves. However, we couldn't have the grandparents stay in the Carriage House as planned because there isn't a handrail on the steep stairs going up to the one bathroom in it with a shower. That's an easy fix that should be made for safety! Overall the furniture and beds were comfortable.

  Canaan Valley never disappoints us. Staying in Old Timberline enhances the visit. We've stayed in Timeless at least 5 years . The house fits our needs and is comfortable. However it needs some TLC. Some furniture should be replaced (broken rattan chairs, sofa in LR is showing age). Also ran into a problem of no propane gas for the grill ( second year in a row this has happened). We have signed up for another visit next year and certainly looking forward to it. Love the view and the great yard for the kids to run and play.

  This house (really two houses) have he best views in Old Timberline - looking at the middle of Spruce Island Lake with the mountains and the Timberline ski area behind the lake. There was lots of room. The samll house had its own living room, as well as 3 bedrooms. The main house had 3 bedrooms, and the kitchen, dinging ares adn great room were well decoratged and modern. Only downside is the decor and furnishings in the bedrooms and bathrooms have not been updated since the house was built over 30 years ago.

  This family get away was a perfect place for us to be during Covid-19. The bedroom arrangement worked out nicely for us as my daughter has young children and we had their great grandmother with us also. We were able to provide her quiet time from the hustle and bustle of everyone else, but also allow her to be a part of family time when she wanted. The one negative, and it was a big one for me, was all the one steps on the main floor. The photos did not reveal the sunken living room (two steps down), nor the one step down to the kitchen dining area and another one step down to the master bedroom. I specifically asked about the layout, but never received a response from the company. This arrangement was terrible for my handicapped mother and I would have never chosen this property for this reason only. We made it work, but it was not easy. This is an open concept floor plan, but the main floor is not all one level. Had my mother not been with us, this would have been a perfect place.

  Timeless is a rental that has it all. We are a large family with lots of kids, so the guest house is perfect for laying them down in the evening and being able to be louder in the main house. The lake is BEAUTIFUL and we love watching the fog rise off of it in the morning or walking around it in the evening. Another bonus is the lake is close, but far enough that you don’t have to worry about kids getting into it when you aren’t watching. There are some great hiking trails super close to this rental also. It’s fully stocked, very clean, and the hot tub is a great bonus! Honestly can’t recommend this place enough. We have been twice so far and will be back in the future!

  The unit was clean, but is in need of a pest control treatment, many spiders and a real ant problem in the kitchen. We have been coming to this area for around 20 years now and many of our group are older now and the only negative we heard all week was the regarding the small toilets. That was the only true complaint. Also the big screen TV in the family room needs serviced the color is really bad. Other than these items we were totally pleased with our stay and the service by the management staff was top notch.

  House is a bit worn. Kitchen cabinet door falling off and dish washer loose. Worse problem was the ants in kitchen.....everywhere. But, Realitor was very nice and helpful, so I'm sure these small problems will be taken care of quickly. Having two separate houses was wonderful. The adult kids could play loud music and video games, and not bother anyone in the main house. And, the view of the valley, mountain side, and lake are fantastic!! This is our third stay in Timeless, and we'll be staying there again.

  We had a wonderful time at "Timeless" for our family reunion! We could not have found a better location and rental organization with "Best of Canaan". The ladies at the office were helpful and responsive to our situation and needs, and quick to respond to our questions and urgencies (like promptly having a replacement propane tank when the first one ran out). We are already considering the same unit for next year. We hiked the Dolly Sods with our two-year old in the kiddy back pack, fished in the lake, and visited our family's homesteads.   I stayed at the Timeless with a large group of friends in October. Our primary purpose was hiking and hanging out and the property really was great.
  
  Biggest pros:
  - Location is terrific - very convenient to Dolly Sods, Roaring Plains, Seneca Rocks, etc.;
  - Bedrooms and bathrooms were a good size;
  - Excellent kitchen;
  - Views of the lake are spectacular;
  - Premium cable (no HD) and WIFI that worked great for my group;
  - Hot tub is very large and gets as hot as you can take; and
  - Overall layout of the house, including the loft in the main house and the separate carriage house is ideal.
  
  Cons (all minor):
  - A few animal encounters - evidence of field mice in the house (although we did not actually see any) and bold racoons will attempt to access the trash; and
  - Evidence of wear on the carpet and the exteiror of the house; and
  - Fridge seems a bit small for a 6 bedroom house.
  
  Overall, we were very pleased with the experience!

  The view and setting of the home was wonderful. Waking up to the lake and mountains was awesome. Having a yard for the kids to play in was a huge plus. The big house has a great room/dining/kitchen area that is very functional for a crowd. Well built as we did not hear all the commotion from downstairs when we were in the upstairs master bedroom. Repair needed for cold water knob in master bath (couldn't get any cold water for the bath), there was no gas in gas grill which was a big disappointment when we went to cook the chicken, the blinds had been lightly cleaned and were fairly dirty. The carriage house was a huge disappointment. Windows were filthy facing the lake view, mattresses very uncomfortable, musty and dirty smelling, squirrels in the roof, furniture very old in sitting area, television is an old 19" set. I would not rent this location if you need to use the carriage house. But the big house is a good bet. I would strongly recommend an outside power washing for both buildings as the spider webs and bugs gave them a run-down feel. My daughter left a fair amount of clothes in the carriage house and the staff at the rental agency are happy to mail them to her. Their motto, "Where nice matters" is true. Staff very easy to deal with. Overall, we had a very good time.

  The house is in a good location quite close to Timberline. I did not give the house 4 starts for "general condition" because
  1) One of the showers did not drain well and the bathroom was a bit rough around the edges
  2) Some kind of animal was livinig in the walls of the guest house. I reported it to the rental company. This is certainly expected in the wilds of WV and hopefully the owner will address it promptly.
  
  But, we had a great time with plenty of room. I would definitely stay int the house again.

  Timeless has always been our favorite property in Canaan - we have stayed there for years but this year we were extremely disapointed. The guest house had mice feces in the upstairs bathroom, worms in the guest living room, the main house had no functional can opener, the carpet in the TV room is filthy, the couch is patched with tape, the upolstered chairs are dirty, the dining table needs refinishing badly, the upstairs bathroom blinds were held up by 2 strings (out of 5) and fell down.
  
  We pay a premium price for Timeless - but it is no where close to being in premium condition. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!

  Timeless worked out well for our 3 family get together. It was very private which was what we wanted. Lovely view of the pond. Having the two houses allowed the younger adults to stay up as late as they wanted with out keeping the older adults up. We loved the hot tub, the fishing and the pool table. The kitchen was fairly well stocked but none of the can openers worked. The management company brought one out to the house. We should have told them to bring out light bulbs too. There were more than a few burnt out ones. Also, the place needs a bigger fridge or a second one. We had 12 people there and lots of food. Good thing it was pretty chilly the weekend we were there. We just used the porch to store the extra soda and beer.

  Our quilting guild group of 13 had a marvelous time sewing, cooking and dining in the well equipped and spacious house. I loved the guest house and the view from both houses was fantastic.
  
  The balcony with the pool table had ants tho,
  and several of the overhead lightbulbs were burned out and we could have used them all to be working.
  
  I also looked for salt to help melt the snow and ice on the walkways, but could not find any. It would have been nice to have had that provided.

  We really enjoyed staying at Timeless and would consider renting it again. However, when we arrived the property had lots of bugs and spider webs scattered throughout the two houses. We had to run the vacuum everywhere. Overall, the main house is wonderful - very beautiful and comfortable. The only complaint with the main house is the water pressure in the shower on the second floor is weak. The carriage house does not have air conditioning and we had a couple of very hot days. Sleeping at night with the windows open was not enough to keep us comfortable. It would be very helpful if the owner would install ceiling fans in the two queen bedrooms. Access to the lake is very convenient and the view is awesome! It's very relaxing sitting on the deck taking in the sites. The yard was great for playing outdoor games like bocce ball and those of us that used the hot tub found it very relaxing.
