  It's hard to recommend a place you want to continue to go to every year...will someone else get there first? Well, I highly recommend CR Mountain Home as the perfect location to explore and hike the Canaan Valley region. A superior golf course is 10 minutes away, you're 20 minutes from Davis and 25 from Blackwater Falls and Thomas. This property is perfect - two baths and 3 full bedrooms. The master suite has a new mattress, the fireplace, grill and hot tub are ready to enjoy. A new outdoor bench with gas-powered fire pit faces the sunset. The property is in superior condition, well-maintained and within 20 minutes of Cafe Milo and Sirianni's in Davis...also the local coffee shop is really great. This is a great place to stay! Highly recommend using Best of Canaan as your rental agency - they are warm, helpful and will do everything to accommodate extensions and emergencies. Best of all, their prices are WAY below the on-line services most use!

  We always have a great time in Canaan and C R Mountain Home was wonderful. It was clean and very quiet. Only suggestion I have is that there needs to be a guide on how to use the AC unit. We could not figure it out, but fortunately it did not get too hot, so we were ok. Last year when we stayed at Paradise Falls, we had the same experience. Instructions would be helpful.

  This place is always clean, simple to check in and out of, superbly located. Kitchen is stocked properly and beds are comfortable enough.
  Only downside is that the hottub has not worked for 2 years (it works but does not go above probably mid-90s, even though the temperature gage on the tub will tell you it is maxed out at 104). Kind of a bummer. Wish they would fix it, as we're certainly not the the only people who mentioned this and desire it for use while staying.

  Perfectly situated between Thomas/Davis and Dolly Sods and Elkins, this home provides a quiet, relaxing base for all of your mountain activities. Can't say enough about the furnishings, beds and linens, fireplace, gas stove, washer and dryer, dishwasher, view from the porch and two and 1/2 baths! The kitchen is well provisioned - you should bring your own lotions and shower gel, paper products, cooking oils and seasonings. The golf course at Canaan Valley is challenging but great - walking or with cart! Many excellent restaurants nearby include Sirianni's in Davis for their pizza, The FORK in Elkins, Farm up Table in Thomas and countless others in the local area. If you ski, CR Mountain Home is located right next to Timberline. Donna and her crew at Best of Canaan have brochures to guide you to attractions and will send you 10 pages of things to do in the local area. Highly recommend Mountain Rail WV excursions -- the New Tygart Flyer and Cass Scenic Railroad. SO much to do, SO little time!! Enjoy!

The view is only lovely, not majestic, but the rest of the home's condition makes up for it. Our kids thought this house was the best part of our vacation!

The only downside is the second floor of the home AC doesn’t cool off and it is very warm and that is with the ceiling fans on. First floor with the AC on it cools. Pillows are uncomfortable.   Great experience despite the inconvenience of having our car stuck in the driveway due to the 5" of snow on top of icy conditions. The ladies in the office were very helpful and sent someone to plow the driveway and then put down some gravel so we could get out. The house was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare all of our meals. Although the refrigerator was too cold and a couple of our items started to freeze! The hot tub was such a nice treat after skiing each day.

  This is a beautiful home! It is tastefully decorated, extremely clean and positioned perfectly for beautiful sunsets. The house is equipped with everything you need to cook, bake and relax. This house was perfectly cleaned and as safe as can be!! There's a new grill and a hot tub if you want to relax. For us, renting a lovely place is a safe way to get away! We took our own pre-cooked meals; hiked and walked at Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks and Blackwater Falls; and shopped at the Buxton and Landstreet Gallery in Thomas and at Artists at Work in Elkins. The house is perfectly located between all of the Canaan Valley sites! The folks at Best of Canaan are SO easy to work with - I've rented from them for years.

  We decided to vacation somewhere nearby (we're from Maryland) due to the pandemic. We decided on West Virginia and had a great time being out and about every day. CR Mountain Home was a great property to come home to every night!
  
  The beds were very comfortable and it was so quiet, I slept better than I do at home! The living room was cozy and we enjoyed the fireplace. The kitchen was well appointed. I was delighted there was a waffle maker! The natural gas grill was nice, but it burned hotter than I am used to so be mindful of cooking times. The cookie decor was very cute.
  
  The was an issue with the hot tub, but the property management company fixed it quickly. It was incredibly relaxing to chill in the hot tub during the cool evenings.

  We stayed three nights and four days at the CR Mountain Home Lodge. There were four of us. Myself and my husband and our brother and sister-in-law. It is a beautiful home but we called it a lodge in keeping with our Mountain exploring adventure. It was so easy to day-trip around the Davis area and return each night to chat and relax at the lodge home with it's beautiful gas fireplace and hot tub. So much better than going back to a hotel room. Day one week visited Black Water Falls and surrounding area. And also went through the Wildlife Refuge. Great trails.
  Day Two saw us climbing Seneca Rock. Another great trail. Not too steep with all of the switchbacks but the use of our trekking poles was much appreciated. Visited the Seneca Caverns in the afternoon as well as drove to the top of Spruce Knob. The views are breath taking and SO WORTH seeing. Day three was off to Dolly Sods-another breath taking experience. Although the drive to the top of Dolly Sods was a little anxious as it is a one lane in and one lane out. Pray for courteous drivers. Parking is a little sketchy during peak hours. Don't skip Dolly Sods for any reason - parking aside, we loved it!
  We were on our own time frame and stopped at many small shops and family restaurants. We were there in September 2020. It was takeout only during the week due to Covid restrictions but dine-in with masks on the weekend.
  It is definitely a small town America experience. The folks are kind and the area is beautiful. We can't wait to go back!!

  We had a great time. There were 7 of us staying in the cabin and it felt like there was plenty of room for all of us. We did a good amount of cooking and can confidently say that the kitchen is well stocked, including a spice cabinet. The grill and hot tub were wonderful as well. The house is next to other cabins but the back deck overlooks a wooded area so it still felt private. The only strange thing was having to have the towels washed and in the dryer before checkout at 10 am. That took some logistics to figure out! Good thing we had brought our own towels for use between putting the towels in to the wash and leaving the cabin.

  Thanksgiving in Davis Wv, what could be better?
  My Husband, my Parents and I stayed 3 nights over Thanksgiving, and it was hard to leave.
  We have stayed in a lot of cabins over the years, and this one blew us away.
  There wasn't a single thing we needed that wasn't provided. So often we have had to bring paper goods, soaps, detergents, spices....not here. The kitchen was so fully stocked and thoughtfully arranged, we cooked our meals like we were home. High end, new appliances were so nice.
  The cabin itself was easy to find, not far from the office where you get the keys. The views are lovely, windows everywhere. Rooms spacious and furniture comfortable, all well maintained. It has the most realistic gas fire we have ever seen, we used it daily.
  Hot tub was awesome, roomy and clean, not overly treated with chemicals. Even hooks for your towels nearby. It's these simple touches that stood out.
  TV reception was great, wifi was not though, which was fine. We had a lot of wind and the office said they were area wide having troubles.
  Just felt like home! Well constructed and not drafty. High end shower doors and fixtures, decor was adorable....just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.
  Ventured into Davis and Thomas. Caught some live music at the Purple Fiddle, had some tasty brews at Stumptown Brewery, cute shops in Davis. Went to Canaan Valley Resort to check it out, deer came almost to the car on the drive in.

  To travel down the very long driveway makes one feel a bit like Lewis & Clark in the beauty of being away from the grind of a city. To arrive at the home and enter to a very stunning and beautiful setting with large windows and a wonderful view. Everything was perfect and I tell everyone that if you want to leave all the daily hub bub home for a bit, this place and setting along with the wonderful owner Shannon, will put a little joy in your life. You'll love to see the goats off in the distance and the deer that will be in your back yard and we got to LOVE the rooster that seemed to crow at dawn and dusk. Will stay there again I imagine.

  Our stay was fine. The place was clean. It would have been nice to have a hairdryer. Also, the cable/satellite was nonfunctioning. This was a bit of a disappointment and I feel like I shouldn't have paid as much as I did due to this.

  The home was in a great location. Only took a couple of minutes to the slopes. Really, you could walk if you wanted to! The home was also spotless. The furniture and beds were great! Had anything you would need to make a meal. We enjoyed our stay, and would consider renting that home again. One tip...book through Best of Canaan to avoid additional fees from other sites.

  This cabin has a welcoming feel from the moment you pull into the driveway. Inside, the decor is warm and inviting and full of quality furniture pieces and historic regional artifacts. The family room with its high ceiling, gas fireplace and picture windows was the perect spot for family games and movies. There was also plenty of room for everyone to have a bit of solitude as well. We spent Thanksgiving there and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meal.

  The house was not only immaculate but welcoming in that you could see the owners take great care of it. the deck is fantastic and the hot tub marvelous. Our young girls absolutely loved he giant stuffed bear! Kitchen is very well stocked and easy to find what you need if you are cooking. We were here in summer so it was nice to easily get back out to the main roads but the slopes are very close for those coming in winter. We will absolutely return.

  This house was absolutely lovely. We love cooking, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a full Thanksgiving meal! The location was good - just a couple of miles from Blackwater Falls State Park and Canaan Valley State Park where we went hiking. The beds were comfortable, and the living room was a cozy place to hang out and unwind. We enjoyed the hot tub under a full moon. Everything was in working order; the property is beautifully maintained. We'll definitely be back.

  This was an overall great experience. House was clean. All furniture was in good condition. Air condition was a plus for a hot summer stay. I've stayed at numerous homes in the Timberline area of Canaan Valley and most of them was in need of maintenance. Not the case for this home. The only issue was not all the jets worked in the hot tub. But as i said, overall great stay.

The layout was very nice as it gave different age groups a bit of privacy - ie loft for kids, MBR deck with rocking chair, hot tub area separated.
